Title: camera enforcement.
Post by: music man on February 14, 2010, 12:58:58 pm
Sure looks like our state legislaters just don't get it. Now the camera enforcement is in the news. I hope everyone understands that if you loan your vehicle to a son or daughter or relative that you will pay the ticket should they violate a red light. The old movie "1984" is here! The "Tea Party" just elected a N.Y. person to the state legislation.

This is just the beginning. The camera's will check for seat belt & other violations. This is a revenue thing. Might as well call it a tax increase. A red light is not a perfected science. The tea party will grow as our elected reps.keep pounding the taxpayer with ignorant legislation. I believe a taxper is only looked at as a source of revenue.

What happened to the right to meet your accuser? I don't know how to cross examine a camera. This is solely a revenue generator. With so much of our tax dollars going to pay fireman, police, etc. I feel it's time to look at privatizing these services. That ought to get some hackles up!  Where does it say a police officer or fireman must be a gov't.employee? I'm not sure we can afford them any longer.

Well, you've brought up two issues here.

The TEA Party movement -

I'm not positive about the status of Al Reynolds, our local TEA Party organizer.  I'm pretty sure that he qualified to be a write-in candidate for Bill Black's seat in our own State Legislature.  I'd be very interested to know how he felt about Sarah Palin (neo-con in knickers) being the headline speaker at the national event held recently for TEA Partiers.  She was paid $300,000+?  Seats at the 'event/dinner' were $549 each?  There's even a TEA Party member challenging Ron Paul for his seat in the House?  Screw all that...

That's the problem with having millions of pissed-off people who want 'Real Change!'  They sure didn't get it from Obama, and they sure as heck ain't gonna get it from the ex-Alaskan Governor.  She resigned her post in her first term so she could get exorbitant 'speaker's fees' from suckers.

Of course, many Tea Party members didn't 'go along' with having their movement hijacked by the neo-cons, so now we still have millions of po'd taxpayers looking for someone worth voting for.  I hate to say I told you so, but I said before that Ron Paul was this nation's last gasp.  But the majority of the people, who evidently were better off back then, 'believed' what the corporate controlled media, as well as the corporate controlled candidates said about the last patriot in Congress.

'Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.' - JFK

Traffic cameras - Of course their purpose is to bring in revenue, and of course innocent car owners have already been fined.  I don't think it's a matter of 'Big Brother' so much (I believe in the book, '1984,' the cameras were inside homes), as it's a sign of desperation.  You think taxes are bad now?  You think shutting down a portion of the Health Dept. is bad?  Wait'll next year...we ain't seen nothing yet.  How many teachers do you think are gonna get the axe?

And when hyper-inflation hits, that five-dollar bill is gonna be worth two overnight.  Those dependent on government pensions?...401k?...turned into worthless Treasury bonds...

But maybe not...maybe those who still have jobs will decide to go knee-deep in debt and buy a car,...or a house, the second wave of mortgage bankrupcies are coming soon.  Maybe a couple of manufacturing plants will spring up offering hundreds of high-paying jobs to all the unskilled labor that populate our area.  I guess 'hope' is all we have...right?

I guess I'm guilty of mixing a third topic here, but I also wanted to post a bit of trivia that was mentioned in a C-N story a couple of weeks ago.  For the first time in the history of our once-great nation, government employees who are unionized now outnumber union members in the private sector.  And there's no doubt in my mind that those government union employees, collectively, make higher wages and have better benefits than those private sector union employees.  How long do you think that that can last?

If I remember correctly, in order for the owner to be fined, their picture must be clear, so there is no doubt. People have used all sort of tricks...like having your sun visor down a bit, where your face is not clearly seen, using reflective tape on your plates, where the flash would obscure the numbers, etc.

I have never gotten a red light ticket, so am going on info from others, but San Diego had the suckers all around town.

So I assume drivers from other States such as Indiana can get by with speeding because they have no front license plates. Don't get me wrong, I'm against the camera as well. I also consider it to be a revenue booster.

probably, except they have cameras both front and back.  So, if they have a good picture from the front and license plate from the back as well....you are probably toast....

Now...I am talking about red light cameras.................

On the court tv show "Speeders Fight Back" they showed camera enforcement court in Illinois. This camera showed the vehicles rear plate only. No picture of the driver. He was in Mexico but he still had to pay the ticket. Now this was a stop sign violation.

The accused showed the judge his passport & proved he was in Mexico. Didn't matter at all. It is the vehicles registered owner who pays. One of his employees commited the violation. My concern is if I loan out my car to one of the kids or a friend or whomever that I'd get the tkt.for any camera violations.

I think Buzz.has some good points but I feel the 1984 senereo is closer than we think.  It will be a little here & a little there. You wake up one morning & Big Brother has taken over. I watched a "CEO" interviewed about "Sam Walton" He was aked how he let his company let Wal Mart steam roller them. His answer seemed so silly. His reply was,"We just didn't see him coming"
