Maybe it's like the unemployment rate.....it's not the real picture of all able-bodied people that are unemployed. Reductions in Police Departments, etc. may not have the personpower required to keep accurate records of violent crime. Then again, what's considered violent crime these days?!? Seems like a lot of us just apathetically accept more bad as okay then we use to.

Greed and Power seems to make sacrifices of others trivial.

I just purchased some 1 lb. packages of ground chuck at county market. Checked the receipt when I got home and found that the ground chuck was like a $1 a lb. more than what I had paid a few weeks ago. $2.89/lb now. I asked a cashier yesterday if there had perhaps been an error on labeling and she told me there hadn't and that the store had raised the price.

Chicago has really stretched out over the years.

On February 23, 2010, the Senate passed the "Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009" (S:30) by Unanimous Consent. The bill was then presented and passed by the House of Representatives, also by Unanimous Consent. On December 22, 2010, President Obama signed the bill, which is now law. Under the bill, which also targets VOIP services, it becomes illegal "to cause any caller identification service to knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value...." The bill maintains an exemption for blocking one's own outgoing caller ID information, and law enforcement isn't affected.

Wonder how they will enforce this. Any ideas?
