1  All Around Vermilion County / In My Humble Opinion / Re: Penn State Sex-abuse Case: Who’s Who From Jerry Sandusky to Joe Paterno on: November 14, 2011, 01:16:47 pm
Good example of what the American priorities have become. Money , sports at any cost. There will be more and more of this come out, but will also be swept under the rug. No doubt if we knew all the was going on, we would be flabbergasted. From the Government on down, children and adults are exploited every day for someones selfish desires and gain. The complaint that there is too much media coverage is legit, but at least we find out about these things so someone can be held accountable. Hope fully this will bring some of the Rats out of hiding.

Heard second hand that they have let 30 people go, some long time employees. Know for sure that they closed production dept and having all printing done in Terra Haute.  Another down side for jobs in Danville. Employees left are very nervous about their jobs. Bad situation for sure.

Yes I do believe in God. Some days when all seems bleak and and the world in such chaos, my Bible and my belief in Him are what substains me. I also believe all people have the right to believe as they wish. I do not force my beliefs on any one. When I look at the beautiful sights in our world, I know only one person could create that beauty. When I look  upon a new born child, I see HIS handiwork. God,s love is all around us.
7  All Around Vermilion County / News Around Vermilion County & Illinois / Re: Danville: Meeting against riverboat set on: November 10, 2010, 08:50:40 am
Danville needs all the help it can get attracting jobs. I, at first was against a casino, but the way things are I think it can only help. As far as crime, read the paper!!! There is some kind of crime commited every day in Danville. I have been to these boats and every one I have been to have good security and are clean and well mantained. I don't ****. I go with friends . We eat at nice restaurents on and around the boat and sometimes there is entertainment. People will travel to go to these, why not leave the money in Danville? There are no jobs in Danville and there does not seem to be any prospect of getting any, so I say go for it.

Having  the right to vote has always been such a privilage to me. Those who don't because of hard feeling's about the other party, to me are being petty. There will always be disagreements and maybe that one vote will be the one ,as Tuck stated, to settle it. It saddens me that college age people don't vote. I have talked to several and they say why? The Government does what they want anyway. But this is a chance to change it, but they just don't agree. Maturity will make a difference I am sure. But I also agree, those that do not vote, do not have the right to complain.

Someone I know mentioned this interesting thought. With 70% of Danville's family's at lo income levels, the free hot breakfast or lunch for the children will not be there for them So is this  working for the children?? I think not. The teachers and their family"s will not suffer this. I think their priorities are sadly very mixed up. Maybe it is time to use the BIG SWEEPING BROOM.

Very true,GA. Oh what we have come to in our world. Simpler day,s in the past ,when money did not reign supreme, just enough to take of our family's and needs. All in the name of progress.

12  News & Events Around The Nation & World / The Nation - United States / Oil Rig Explosion on: September 02, 2010, 03:02:29 pm
Another oil rig exploded. Not good news for the Gulf.  No apparent leaks the last I heard. Seems kind of suspicious to me. Seems like the maintenence is not up to par or dirty tricks abounding. Lets pray this is not setting a trend.

Would like to see some friendly, vigerous debates again. I think people are so  concerned about the what is going on in our country today, that they feel no one listens so why waste the time to comment. Just my thoughts.  Roll Eyes
14  All Around Vermilion County / In My Humble Opinion / Re: National Day of Prayer on: April 17, 2010, 06:28:06 am
GA I stand corrected. The person that passed this item on to me and my other friends amended what she told us. It was a Judge that is trying to stop the day. Although I still as a Christian am offended that someone like a Judge  can try to do these sorts of things. The way our world is today ,this does not surprise me at all. I just wish the priorities were different, but I think those days are over.  And you are so right, one statement can spread like wild fire. I will no longer take part in this.
15  All Around Vermilion County / In My Humble Opinion / National Day of Prayer on: April 16, 2010, 04:33:10 pm
Just want rational opions on this topic. I was told today that the President cancelled the National Day of Prayer. What right does he have to do this, if this true. It had been a tradition for years that people come together in May and celebrate a day of prayer. In my working years, we met downtown on our lunch hour  to do this. What is the difference between this and the day of prayer that he allowed the Muslim faith to hold at the White House? Just asking.Prorites??? I think so. As a Christian this offends me. Thanks, as I stated just asking.
