Keeping the leash short and having her walk beside you is the proper way to walk a dog. My last dog was a Great Dane that was trained by a professional trainer. To heel properly the dog should walk beside you with it's nose even with your right leg and your hand should hold the leash just above the collar. Letting them run ahead on a long leash only encourages them to pull you along and gives you no control when you come upon people or other dogs. Even tho you are on wheels the principal is about the same. You are walking her, not the other way around!
It was a pleasure to walk my dog. She weighed close to 125 pounds, but because we were well trained, she never pulled me around, and because she was close to me I never had to worry about her chasing cats or frightening people with her size.

The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity, but the one that removes awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside. --Allan Bloom

What a doll baby!!! Yes, those eyes just make you want to do whatever "she wants", lol. Looks like you made a good choice. I noticed your shoe - did you put it there for her to have your scent nearby or did she bring it to her bed? Keep those neat pix coming.

I gave her a pair of old shoes cuz I thought she'd feel like she was gettin away with something by chewing on them. Took her to the vet this afternoon for a shot and she's gained over 6 pounds already. Started at 26.2 and now is at 32.6. Think it must be from eating all of the bugs in the back yard.......the usual puppy stuff. I gave her a ride back home on the foot rest platform of my wheelchair because she was all tuckered out. Poor baby

(And I hope you've installed a state-required puppy-seat on your mobile unit so a K-9 police doggie won't have to pull you over -- especially if it were a German Shepherd officer that happened to be her DAD!)

She was born July 3, 2009. Her father was a Lab and her mother was a husky/Shepherd mix.
