Like so much "scientific research," isn't the info below just common sense?:  Heartache, yes, really hurts the heart.   And can last a long time, if not forever.

Now, do we need a thorough scientific study to prove WAR is bad for one's heart?   Why, heck yeah, our government should devote major Pentagon appropriations to such research and then take the necessary health precautions immediately!    Tongue

Heartbreak increases heart attack risk: study
Sep 15 08:42 AM US/Eastern

People mourning the loss of a loved one are six times more likely to suffer cardiac arrest, potential proof that you can indeed die of a broken heart, Australian researchers said Tuesday.

According to a Heart Foundation study of the physical changes suffered immediately after a profound loss, grieving people were at significantly higher risk of heart problems, said lead researcher Thomas Buckley.

"We found higher blood pressure, increased heart rate and changes to immune system and clotting that would increase the risk of heart attack," Buckley said.

Of the 160 people studied, half were mourning the loss of a partner or child, and their risk of heart attack increased six-fold, he said.

The risk, which was evident in people as young as 30, reduced after six months and levelled out after two years, he added.

A sudden flood of stress hormones is believed to be behind the grief-induced heartache, a condition that earlier studies have found is more likely to affect women.

Oh yes, I'd always heard that frogs croak, but not from heart attacks -- because they drink all that red wine.  ... Huh?  Wrong kind of frog?  Oops.    Sorry.

(Say, looks like some significant toe-curling going on in that picture.  I don't know if that's acceptable;  I may have to email Mr. Ashcroft.)

Froggie went a-courtin'?!  Cheesy

Wonder what that slick frog said to get her in such a position, something enticing and ribbiting no doubt ... "Heyy, babyyy, come on over to MY pad, we can slip into something more ... slippery?, heh heh"   Probably had a few Swamp Water cocktails, listened to some toadly awesome music.  Not leaping to conclusions, but since he's a male, he probably fibbed.  Then again, according to latest research, they're both am-fib-ians...   Grin

Ok, I obviously need a long, good-for-the-heart computer break again (apparently so does everyone else!  Smiley) -- too much politics?!

But don't froget these famous last words from the "cee-ment pond" -- "Nice folks, Y'all come back now, ya hear?"   Have a good weekend!

Disclaimer:  No frogs were harmed (in a blender) in the attempting of this, ahem, wet humor.

Heart risks notwithstanding, have you ever given much thought to cancer?  You've really got to feel sorry for the poor laboratory rats and laboratory mice as it would seem that all research suggests that nearly everything we expose them to causes cancer. Of course they're exposed to 100 times the amount that a human encounters in his/her entire lifetime. The point is that everything, taken in excess, may likely cause cancer.  Just imagine the plight of the poor laboratory rats that get their drinking water from Lake Vermilion..... oh wait, those aren't lab rats are they? They're the citizens of Danville. So tell me, how is the cancer rate there these days?

The Pay-TV industry does not hold the patent on alienating customers, but COMCAST in particular has succeeded in making an art form of it.
