It always seems like the snow sort of cleans up the landscape for a short time. I hope all of you are enjoying it even though it does have some potential bad effects.

I take a New Years Day hike every year. Friday's hike should be a good one with the snow cover. Last year, I do not believe we had snow on January 1.

It is very scenic out in the public land areas with snow; and the snow keeps some people at home, so that you normally never see another person.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year. Just curious....do you by any chance have native American ancestors?

No Native American ancestry that I am aware of, but possible.

I just enjoy the outdoors and do have a few stone arrowhead, blades, scrapers, etc.

I'd definitely do the same if I could! Have fun!

Who knows....I bet if you ever research your genealogy you would find out you do have NA ancestry. There are lots of people around this area that do.

Pretender, so funny you said that about cleaning up the landscape. As my husband was driving me to work on Friday because I am a chicken driving on slick roads, we were getting near East St Louis and I said, there has to be at least one good snow every year to clean up East St Louis.  We turned off just before ESL and he said this neighborhood keeps their property up pretty good. I told him remember what I said about the snow to clean it up at least once a year?

Will probably get a snow blower in the next week or two......as I said before, my wife loves this stuff and my dad even "gifted" us with a snow shovel. Shovels are passe'. When I get my snow blower, I will probably do my neighbor's walks as well.........Helping Others....Always worthwhile....

I noticed you really have to watch what you say...as some people like to really twist things around and try to make other people look bad.

But Shorty, I have to ask...do you even exist?  Still have not seen you since I came back home!!

He's easy to miss, I have to sit down if I want to see him eye-to-eye...

You may have to wait until the snow melts to find him, he could be standing in a snowdrift...
